1) What is the procedure to apply for admission as an exchange/individual guest student to the University of Copenhagen?
The first step is to find out if your home university has an agreement with us. You either apply as an individual guest student or as an exchange student.

2) Should I apply as an exchange student or as a guest student?
If your home university has an agreement with the University of Copenhagen, you must apply through the agreement as an exchange student. The term ‘Guest Students’ covers students who are NOT on exchange, but are applying on an individual basis.

3) I want to study a full degree, can you help me?
The International Office assists exchange and guest students who study one or two semesters at the University of Copenhagen as a part of their degree at their home university. If you want to study for a full degree, please contact the department in which you want to study.

4) How do I find out if my home university has an agreement with the University of Copenhagen?
Ask at the International Office at your home university.

5) What do I do if my home university does not have an agreement with the University of Copenhagen?
You can apply as an individual guest student.

6) How to apply for admission to the University of Copenhagen:
After applying through your home university as an exchange student or applying as an individual guest student by sending us the required documents, you will receive an e-mail from us to apply online.

You fill in the online application form, upload the required documents and submit your application. Your application will be evaluated by the relevant departments as soon as you have received a receipt for a complete application form.
You will then be notified if you have been admitted or not.

7) Is there an entry exam to be admitted to the University of Copenhagen?
No, there is not an entry exam to be admitted to the University of Copenhagen. Admission for exchange and guest students is based on an individual evaluation of the application. A minimum of two years of study is usually required. Please refer to the relevant department for information about the specific evaluation criteria.

8) Do I have to send a printed and signed copy of my application to the International Office?
Only Individual Guest Students have to send a printed and signed application to the International Office by regular mail.

9) What is an official transcript of academic records in English?
An official transcript of academic records is a paper from your home university that lists the courses you have followed, the grades you have received and the ECTS points or semester credits you have earned. The transcript must be in English

10) Do I have to upload my official transcript of academic records online?
Yes, please scan and upload your official transcript of academic records to your application. If it is completely impossible for you to do this, you can e-mail it or send it by regular mail. Please note this will add approximately 1 – 2 weeks to the processing time.

11) When will I know if I have been admitted?
The International Office and the departments process the applications continuously and therefore we cannot give you a specific date for your admission. When you receive an email from us confirming that your application is complete, it may take up to four weeks before we can tell you if you have been admitted.

12) Can the International Office return my application documents to me?Documents sent to the International Office cannot be returned as they are for administrative purposes. Please make sure to take a copy for your own use before sending the documents to our office.

13) I am applying for a Governmental Scholarship and need to present a Letter of Acceptance. Can you provide me with such?
The University of Copenhagen can not issue a letter of acceptance/admission until you are officially admitted to the University of Copenhagen. Please refer to the other questions about admission.
