Danish Language Courses
The University of Copenhagen offers Danish language courses to all international students from non-Scandinavian countries. Even if you take courses taught in English at the University of Copenhagen, knowing some Danish – even just basic words – can be very useful. Taking part in Danish language courses is also a good way to learn more about Danish culture and to meet other international students.
We offer the following types of Danish courses
- Three-week pre-semester courses (department site)
- Semester courses (department site)
Application
For pre-semester courses:
-
Exchange and guest students apply online with their application for admission to the University of Copenhagen
-
Other students must apply by filling in the application form found at the department site
Information about the semester courses will be given at the Orientation Meetings arranged by the International Office at the beginning of each semester.
Evaluation and Credits
Students are graded on the 7-scale for the Danish language courses. It is not possible to earn more than 15 ECTS from Danish language courses per semester. Students will be able to enrol in as many Danish language courses as they wish, but the number of ECTS-points will be limited to 15 each semester, including credits for pre-semester courses.
This does not affect the course in Written Danish for Advanced Students and the course in Danish Phonetics and Pronunciation offered by the Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics.
