Programme Structure

The two-year Master's programme in Film and Media Studies builds on the competencies acquired during your undergraduate studies. As we admit students with widely different backgrounds, the academic environment is multifarious, often resulting in lively discussions amongst course participants.

Students must complete the study programme within 3 years of study.

For international students studying the MA in Film and Media Studies from 2016 and onward, only the specialisation Film and Audiovisual Aesthetics will be available in English.

The structure of the MA in Film and Media Studies is depicted in the table below.

PLEASE NOTE: A new curriculum will come into effect on 1 September 2019, which means that there may be significant changes in relation to the programme structure and course modules taught in English.

Module 2: Media, Genres and Aesthetics

Module 4: Audience and User Studies

(15 ECTS credits)

Master's Thesis

(30 ECTS)

Optional subjects: Elective study, elective course or academic internship

The Master's programme in Film and Media Studies offers the following specialisations taught in Danish:

  • Cross-media Communication
  • Creative Media Industries
  • Journalism, Culture and Society
  • Film and Audiovisual Aesthetics
  • Upper-secondary school specialisation
