Internship in NepalMartin Müller in Nepal

Martin, a second-year GD student, is currently doing an internship in Kathmandu, Nepal. By now he is already half way through his five months stay, working with the German ‘Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit’ (GIZ) and their local partner organization ‘International Centre for Mountain Development’ (ICIMOD).

“I am working on a project on the promotion of both the transboundary management of natural resources as well as rural development. My work includes field trips, workshops on the local level as well as regular office work for preparing and documenting the implemented measures. At the moment I am working on a workshop in Nepal regarding the long-term socio-ecological monitoring in Bhutan, Nepal, India and China, and document its outcomes as well as follow-up possibilities.
This internship gives me the opportunity to experience two very different organizations and to get profound insights into working on the ground in rural development. Furthermore, I am very happy about getting the possibility to work in different parts of the country while covering various thematic dimensions of rural development and transboundary resource management.
Nepal itself with its cultural and geographical diversity keeps on impressing me and has proven to be a perfect choice for an interesting internship.”
