Payment and Tuition Fees

Tuition fee

All students applying for an MSc degree with citizenship outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland must pay tuition fee. The tuition fee amounts to €10,000 per academic year.

  • The deadline for payment of first instalment will be stated on the invoice that you recieve subsequent to accepting an offer of admission.

Subsequent instalments must be paid no later than:

  • 31 August

Exemption from paying tuition fee

You may be exempted from paying tuition fee, if you have one of the following two Danish residence permits or the equivalent hereto:

  • Permanent residence permit.
  • Temporary residence permit with the possibility of achieving a permanent residence permit.

Tuition fee refund policy

If you withdraw your registration at the Faculty of Social Sciences before 1 September (Autumn-intake), a full refund of tuition fees paid will be given.

If you withdraw your registration at the the Faculty of Social Sciences on or after 1 September (Autumn-intake), tuition fees paid will not be refunded.

If due to problems with obtaining your residence permit, you are still unable to commence your studies on 7 September (Autumn intake), a full refund of tuition fees paid will be given provided that the Faculty is informed of this delay by e-mail to admissions@samf.ku.dk no later than 7 September and 7 February, respectively. If you fail to notify the Faculty on said dates at the latest, tuition fees paid will not be refunded.

US Loans

The University of Copenhagen participates in the William D. Ford Direct Loan Program (Direct Loan).

To apply for US Federal loans through the Direct Loan Program, you must be an American student enrolled in a degree-granting program at the University of Copenhagen.
