Whether you can apply for admission to the programme if you have already passed the first year of study or more (see the programme’s current curriculum) depends on how you have passed the first year of study.

No, in these cases you cannot apply for admission

Same programme

If you have passed the courses as a full-time student on the same programme – either at the University of Copenhagen or at another Danish university – you cannot apply for admission. You should apply for a transfer if you are enrolled on the same programme at another Danish university. You can apply for re-enrolment if you are no longer a student on the programme – either at the University of Copenhagen or at another Danish university.

Other programme

You cannot apply for admission if you are still a student and have passed the first year of study or more on another programme – either at the University of Copenhagen or at another Danish university. Instead, you should apply for a change of programme.

If you are having trouble logging on to the Application Portal or encounter other technical difficulties when applying, please contact studentservices@science.ku.dk. In your email, please describe the problem and attach a screenshot that shows the problem.

If you have problems just before the deadline for applications, it is important that you send your email with the screenshot before the application deadline.

The Application Portal is a nationwide online application system, which is used by all the universities in Denmark. The server is often quite busy, especially close to the deadline. If you apply close to the deadline, you may encounter problems logging in or completing your application.

If you are unable to send your application before the deadline, your application will not be processed, as this is not considered to be a valid reason for not applying in due time.

Normally, it is not possible to send an application or documentation after the application deadline.

If your delay is due to technical problems, make sure to take screenshots and send them by email to studentservices@science.ku.dk with an explanation and documentation that the technical problems occurred before the deadline.

If it is a case of exceptional circumstances, such as sudden, serious illness, you can apply for exemption. The matter must be documented by a doctor’s note or similar.

It is generally a precondition for being granted an exemption that the circumstances which resulted in your failure to apply within the deadline have, to a great extent, been beyond your control.

As a general rule delay, forgetfulness and lack of knowledge about the deadline do not provide grounds for an exemption.

Please note: You must send your application for exemption as soon as possible after the deadline for which you are applying.

Questions about re-enrolment

In your application, you must upload a maximum of a half-page statement. You must explain how your ability to complete the programme has improved significantly.

You must also upload documentation that your ability to complete the programme has improved significantly – for example, a doctor's note or documentation that you no longer have full-time work.

You will only be re-enrolled if your situation has changed significantly to the extent that it is now realistic that you can complete the programme.

A key factor in the processing of your application is how much you have passed on the programme, and how long you have been enrolled in the programme.
