Scholarships

The Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen has a very limited number of scholarships to award outstanding non-EU/EEA MSc applicants. The scholarships are allocated to students with excellent academic performance.

The scholarship is granted to cover

  • tuition fees
  • living expenses (2023 level: DKK 9960 per month for 22 months).

Who is considered for a scholarship?

All non-EU/EEA applicants with a grade point average above 90% of their bachelor’s degree will be considered for a scholarship on their 1st priority application.

  • You will only be considered for the scholarships if you are admitted to your 1st priority application.
  • If your grade point average is below 90% you will unfortunately not be considered for the scholarship.

In 2023 the recipients of the scholarships had a GPA of more than 96%.

You cannot apply for the scholarship

You will be considered for the scholarship when you have submitted an application for one of our MSc programmes. This means that you cannot make a separate application for the scholarship.

Selection criteria for the scholarships

Apart from the GPA of applicants, the faculty will also take into consideration the general employability of the graduates from different MSc programmes. Furthermore it will be ensured that the scholarships are allocated with a geographical diversification of the recipients.

In addition, the faculty may choose to allocate some scholarships to support collaboration with applicants from the faculty’s non-European strategic partners

Scholarship for the 2nd year

Each year The Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen examines the academic performance of fee-paying students who have completed the first year at the faculty. The very best will be awarded a scholarship to cover both tuition fees and living expenses for the 2nd year of their programme.

If you are awarded the scholarship, you will be contacted by the end of August/start of September before the beginning of your 2nd year. If you already paid tuition fee for the 2nd year, it will be refunded.

In 2023 the fee-paying students who were awarded this scholarship had a GPA of 9.8 or higher on the Danish grading scale.
