MSc in Security Risk Management

Master of Science (MSc) in Security Risk Management

How should we define risks, manage security and contribute to the creation of a resilient society? In this programme you will learn how to navigate the complex and global environment that today's companies and public organisations operate in. Global threats, such as terrorism, financial crisis and environmental problems, have transformed the traditional way of assessing security risks. This programme will help you to understand these changes and the organisational uncertainty they often install. You will gain competences to translate risks and security challenges into new security and risk management practices; to recognise new opportunities; to develop strategies for managing risks; and to lead these processes. All of this takes place in a Danish learning environment, especially suited for developing personal reflection and innovative competences.

The programme is offered in English

The MSc in Security Risk Management provides students with a solid theoretical and empirical knowledge about security policy, risk analysis and organisations in a global and changeable world. This includes an introduction to Security and Strategy Studies, Political Risk Analysis, Organisational Studies and Risk Communication. The purpose of the programme is to train graduates to identify opportunities for change in the complex and risky environments in which they operate and to put these reflections into action. The programme offers an innovative combination of research-based and active teaching, in close interaction with practitioners and real-life work situations. An important element of the programme is thus a continuous engagement with people from outside academia who are already working on these issues. Hence you will regularly meet future employers and learn from their experiences.
