When and how to apply
Enrolment to all bachelor’s programmes at the University of Copenhagen takes place once a year - on 1st September. The only exception to this rule is the bachelor’s programme in Economics where students are usually enrolled twice a year - on 1st September and 1st February.
All applicants with foreign or international examinations (regardless of nationality) must submit their application before March 15th for enrolment 1st september.
Please note that the online application form with all the necessary documentation must be completed and submitted by 12 o’clock on 15th March. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.
This means you should start on filling the application form and completing all your documents in time before the deadline.
You apply for admission to the University of Copenhagen’s bachelor’s programmes via www.optagelse.dk. The application period runs from the 1st February to the 5th July. Please note that the information at www.optagelse.dk regarding University of Copenhagen is in Danish only, as all our bachelor's degree programmes are taught in Danish.
Please note that the deadline for all applicants with foreign or international examinations is 15th March and that all admission requirements including the required Danish language test must be fulfilled before the closing date for registration: 5th July in order to be considered for admission. This also applies to students taking the International Baccalaureate and General Certificate of Education.
The enclosed documents must be official - signed and stamped by the issuing school or institution. If the documents are not in one of the major European languages or in Norwegian or Swedish they must be accompanied, not substituted, by officially translated and certified copies. If you do not have a Danish civil registration number (CPR-nummer), you need to follow special guidelines at www.optagelse.dk. You need to print the signature page, scan it and send it by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org before 12 o’clock on 15th March. You can find more information about it at our Danish website or at www.optagelse.dk.
Some certificates or diplomas are not issued before the closing date for registration: 5th July. Applicants expecting to complete their admission qualification before the closing date but who will not receive their certificate or diploma until after this date must submit, together with their application form, a letter from the school confirming that they will be sitting for the examination before 5th July. This letter must also include information about the subjects and level of subjects to be taken.
In this case the final certificate or diploma must be sent to the admissions office immediately after it has been issued. For obvious reasons, applicants will not be informed whether or not they have been offered admission until they have submitted their official examination results.
When will you know if you are admitted?
The 30th July you will be notified whether or not you have been offered a study place from 1st September. The notification will be visible at the self-service MitKU. Please note that all communication with the university takes place through MitKU.
