Proof of English proficiency

Proof of English proficiency is only required if you want to take courses in the following subjects:

  • English/American Language and Culture
  • Information Science (only required for non-EU/EEA students)
  • Political Science

Not the Scandinavian students and students enrolled at an institution in an English-speaking country are exempt from documenting English language proficiency.

English/American Language and Culture
  • TOEFL iBT (incl. "at home" version): minimum score: 80
  • TOEFL Computer-based: minimum score: 213
  • TOEFL Paper-based: minimum score: 550
  • IELTS: minimum score: 6.0 (incl. one-skill retake)
  • Cambridge English C1 Advanced: minimum score B
  • Cambridge English C2 Proficiency: minimum score C
Information Science
  • IELTS test with a minimum score of 6.5  (incl. one-skill retake)
  • Paper-based TOEFL test with a minimum score of 560
  • TOEFL iBT (incl. "at home" version) with a minimum score of 83
Political Science
  • Documentation for CEF level: B2
  • TOEFL iBT (incl. "at home" version): minimum score: 80
  • TOEFL Computer-based: minimum score: 213
  • TOEFL Paper-based: minimum score: 550
  • IELTS: minimum score: 6.0 (incl. one-skill retake)
  • Cambridge English C1 Advanced: minimum score B
  • Cambridge English C2 Proficiency: minimum score C

However, the department is also willing to consider statements from the home university that the student's English language proficiency is equal to CEF B2 (or higher).

For all other subjects

For all other subjects, exchange students do not need to submit proof of English language proficiency.
