EU/EEA and Swiss citizens

If you are the citizen of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland (i.e., hold a passport), you can enter Denmark and start your studies without a residence permit/visa. However, you will need a residence document if your stay will be for 90 days or more.

Shortly before the start of the semester, we will send you more information on how to apply for a residence document.

Find more information about the process here.

Non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens

Citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland will need a residence permit/visa for an exchange stay lasting 1 or 2 semesters. However, the rules are slightly different depending on

a) which country you are a citizen of, and
b) how long your stay is.

Shortly after you have been admitted, we will send you the residence permit/visa application form (in PDF format) with instructions on how to apply. If you have not received the form 2 weeks after being admitted, please contact us at INT-admission@adm.ku.dk.

DO NOT start an online residence permit/visa application.
