Campus areas at UCPH

UCPH has four campuses. It is easy to get from one campus to another either by bicycle or public transportation due to the relatively short distances in Copenhagen.

The campuses are integrated into the city of Copenhagen, and students often use the city’s spaces and facilities, which gives a lively buzz to the streets and cafés of Copenhagen.

The university premises range from historic buildings in the medieval city centre to modern architectural campus environments that house state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities.

Campus facilities

On each campus you will find:

  • A strong international environment with 5,500 international students out of a student body of 39,000
  • Study spaces and quiet zones where you can read and study using the wireless network
  • Common areas, lounges and meeting rooms for discussions and meetings with your study group
  • Outdoor areas where you can study, relax or meet with fellow students in between classes
  • Academic Books where you can buy textbooks, compendia etc. It is primarily a bookstore for students, and they give students a 10 percent discount on all syllabus literature.
  • Canteens and cafés, where you can buy breakfast, lunch, coffee, cake etc.
  • Friday bars, where you can welcome the weekend in good company.

Studying at City Campus

City Campus is located in downtown Copenhagen. Everything the city has to offer is right outside the door. Nevertheless, it is easy to escape the city noise to study or relax in one of the many beautiful, surrounding parks. The campus accommodates the Faculty of Social Sciences and a part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.

The Centre for Health and Society (shown in the film) is located between the Copenhagen Lakes and the public transport hub Nørreport station. The Centre for Health and Society  is brimming with history as the buildings are the former  district hospital with high ceilings and a stylish architectural look. The buildings have modern teaching facilities, and in 2013, the University opened a new building with three auditoriums.

Degree programmes and environment at City Campus

  • Master's degree programmes taught in English within the areas of anthropology, economics, political science, psychology and sociology. Furthermore, there are master’s programmes in Global Development and Security Risk Management.
  • Approx. 6,700 full-time students at two faculties.

At City Campus, you will find facilities that can help you through your studies, for example:

  • Study spaces and quiet zones where you can read or log on to the wireless network and study.
  • Common areas, lounges and meeting rooms for discussions and meetings with your study group.
  • Beautiful outdoor spaces where you can study, relax or meet with fellow students in between classes.
  • The bookshop 'Academic Books’ where you can buy books, compendia etc.
  • Canteens and cafés where you can buy breakfast, lunch, coffee, cake etc.
  • The cozy ‘Café Kommunen’ where you can hang out with friends.

Studying at North Campus

Natural science, human life and health are in focus at North Campus, which houses the Faculty of Science (SCIENCE) and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (SUND). At North Campus, you can, for example, visit the Zoological Museum and experience the city from the top of Mærsk Tower. Copenhagen’s largest, and very popular park, ‘Fælledparken’, is only a stone’s throw from North Campus.

North Campus is located in the triangle between Nørre Allé, Jagtvej and Tagensvej. In addition, you can access the Niels Bohr Institute and Panum from Blegdamsvej.

Degree programmes and environment at North Campus

  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes within natural and health sciences– with a broad focus on biology, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, sports, IT and basic disciplines such as chemistry, physics and mathematics.
  • Approx. 12,000 students at two faculties, 18 bachelor’s degree programmes and 30 master’s degree programmes.

On North Campus, you will find facilities that can help you through your studies, for example.:

  • Study spaces and quiet zones where you can read or log on to the wireless network and study.
  • Common areas, lounges and meeting rooms for discussions and meetings with your study group.
  • The University Park where you can study, relax or meet with fellow students in between classes.
  • The bookshop 'Academic Books' where you can buy books, compendia etc.
  • Canteens and cafés where you can buy breakfast, lunch, coffee, cake etc.
  • Friday bars where you can welcome the weekend in good company.

Studying at Frederiksberg Campus

History is omnipresent at Frederiksberg Campus where veterinary surgeons and professionals within agriculture and forestry used to work. Today, the campus accommodates a large part of the Faculty of Science and a minor part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. Here, you can, for example, find the fantastic University Garden and the University's animal hospital.

Frederiksberg Campus is located in the area between Rolighedsvej, Thorvaldsensvej and Bülowsvej.

Degree programmes and environment at Frederiksberg Campus

  • Bachelor's and master's degree programmes within natural and health sciences with a focus on plant science, food production, veterinary medicine, animal science, agricultural economics and landscape architecture.
  • Approx. 4,000 students at two faculties, seven bachelor’s programmes and 15 master's programmes.

At Frederiksberg Campus, you will find facilities that can help you through your studies, for example:

  • Study spaces, library and quiet zones where you can read or log on to the wireless network and study
  • Common areas, lounges and meeting rooms for discussions and meetings with your study group
  • The University Garden, established in 1858. The garden has more than 6,000 different plants and functions as a study garden.
  • The bookshop Academic Books where you can buy books, compendia etc.
  • Two canteens where you can buy breakfast, lunch, coffee, cake etc.
  • The Friday bar Akacievej where you can welcome the weekend in good company.
  • Café ‘Væksthuset’ (greenhouse) located in the University Garden.

Studying at South Campus

South Campus is home to the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Theology. Around 15,000 students are studying one of the more than 100 programmes offered at South Campus.

South Campus is located near the Islands Brygge metro station on Amager. The entire campus environment was developed with education and research in mind. The buildings contain modern auditoriums and educational facilities, including study rooms, quiet zones and comfortable spaces for students where they can immerse themselves in the research and learning environment.

Copenhagen University Library

As a student at UCPH, you have access to the Copenhagen University Library and the Royal Danish Library. Here,  you have access to a wealth of digital and printed resources. You can find and ask for books, articles, journals, images, manuscripts, music etc.

Social activities at campus

You can find small student cafés, canteens and Friday bars all over the campus areas. Here, you can talk or play games while enjoying tea, coffee, beer or anything else the bar has to offer. Pick your favourite Friday bar from the ‘Great guide to  Friday bars’ by The University Post.
